Happy Pride Month to all people of goodwill! I’ve been thinking about what Pride means in a context like mine (Kenya) with friends in neighbouring Uganda being imperilled by laws that aggressively criminalise them. What, to the person at the margins, is Pride for? But also, thinking about Queer joy in all its forms; about what it means to have community despite, despite, despite. So here’s this year’s Pride reading’s poster -  we’ll be reading Rain by Eloghosa Osunde - to sign up, go here.

After a couple of weeks off wage work, I went back in a week marked by sleeplessness and sleepiness (if you’re thinking “that sounds like sleep apnea” the answer is yes, maybe, I don’t know) so I barely had it in me to see what was happening on the street I was studying my desk too intently. But the goal is to right the ship enough to bring some thoughts soon. Before then, thank you for your support here and on YouTube.

• New (to me) paywall eliminator just dropped: 12ft.io There are only so many subscriptions one can pay for, only so many times one can ask friends for gift links or web to PDF copies

• Coming soon to the Smithsonian: an exhibition that my dear friend Rosie Olang’ worked on that centres the lives and worlds of Disabled people.

• Help us name our kitten as we raise money for the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (KSPCA)

• Dracula Daily, which I mentioned in a past entry, continues apace. Jump on if you’re keen

• May’s Mengi Mengi Film Club screening was moved to the last Saturday of June so there’s more time to plan to watch the films that were lined up
