Reader,
I was going to write to you yesterday but there was a day-long blackout (this after 3 days earlier in the week with no power) so I decided to do this at school, where there’s always power thanks to generators. Living in Kenya is a trip, istg.
As some of you may know, I am an audiobook gworl so this article about folks “overperforming” them caught my eye. I think there’s something to be said about, especially, memoirs read by people other than their authors but the writer also makes some interesting points about accents and voices of a gender that isn’t one’s. I’ve found that narrators can make or break an audiobook so this resonated. I’d love to hear your thoughts on audiobook performances - particularly which ones you’ve enjoyed and why.
The Discography Project Update: I’ve finished Whiney Houston’s discography since I last wrote. A lot of new favourites were added to my list (I’m considering starting a little blog to document this) and I missed her anew. I haven’t been listening to a lot of music (instead, I’ve been listening to a bunch of podcasts, primarily How To! from Slate) so I intend to put aside an hour each day for music say as I work or take hot girl walks. This week: Mafikizolo.

I have finished two books since I last wrote to you - a hybrid read of The Wellness Trap: Break Free from Diet Culture, Disinformation, and Dubious Diagnoses, and Find Your True Well-Being by Christy Harrison and the e-book edition of Come and Get It by Kiley Reid - and released eight videos. To catch the videos I’m working on when they’re done, subscribe to the channel if you haven’t yet!
As ever, please write back to me and tell me what books you’re reading or looking forward to reading — it’s always a great time talking about books.
Enjoy the week ahead and have a lovely time reading. Talk to you soon!
